Is framer a Drag and Drop site builder?
How can you distinguish between a drag-and-drop website builder and a true creation tool?
Over the past few weeks, there has been a debate about whether Framer is a drag-and-drop website builder. The answer is no.
One key difference between these two design methods is that drag-and-drop website builders lack the important aspect of implementing a personalized Atomic Design, which is the ability to apply a modular design system to all your project.
To have a fully creative experience, a tool must allow you to create every aspect from top to bottom which includes text, icons, colors and content as building the complete experience between components, elements, sections, and more.
Framer allows you to build all of these concepts from scratch, including adding variables and personalized motion to any element. This is why Framer cannot be considered a drag-and-drop website builder.
Good examples of drag-and-drop websites are Dorik, Unstack, Universe, and other NoCode tools, where you don’t have so much liberty in any aspect of the user experience and user interface.
